Women will travel to Illinois in Nationals opener
The women’s basketball team will travel to Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill. to play in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament on Friday.
The Grizzlies (21-6 overall) will take on the host Illinois Wesleyan Titans (26-1) in the second game of the first round on Friday, March 5, at 8 p.m. Simpson College (22-5) will play University of Chicago (19-6) in the 6 p.m. opening contest in Illinois Wesleyan’s Shirk Center.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for senior citizens and students with an I.D.
Franklin, which defeated Hanover in the HCAC tournament championship game on Saturday, advanced to the NCAA tourney with an automatic bid. The Grizzlies are making their first NCAA tourney appearance since 2006.
Illinois Wesleyan is making its fourth straight NCAA playoffs appearance. IWU has won three straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin regular season and tournament titles.
