The Franklin College women’s golf team won the 2009 Franklin College Fall Invitational, shooting a combined team total of 339. The single-round, five-team tournament was played at The Legends of Indiana Golf Course on Sunday, October 4th. The win was the Grizzlies first team title since October, 2007. Franklin finished 24 shots better than second place Hanover.

Two seniors led the way for the Grizzlies. Natalie Daugherty  won the individual title, with a score of 82. Grace Adams finished in a close second, shooting an 83.

Sophomore Brittany Stephens tied for third after firing an 85. Junior Samantha Marshall  placed sixth, shooting an 89.

Sophomore Brittany Brownrigg shot a 92, good enough to tie her for 12th.

“I felt that the whole team played exceptionally well at the Grizzly Invitational. I was glad that our two seniors, Natalie and Grace, were able to receive first and second place as individuals!” said Stephens.

The Grizzlies also had four individual contestants enter the event. Sophomore Anne Kaylor fired a 91, tying her for eighth. Freshmen Morgan Gold  and Avery Brown shot a 93 and 94, placing them 14th and tied for 15th, respectively. Sophomore Kacey Bennet recorded a 95, finishing tied for 17th.
