Franklin tennis falls to U of I

Franklin College men’s and women’s tennis teams fell last weekend in a contest against the University of Indianapolis. Both matches ended with the result of 9-0.

“It is a good tone up match for us heading into our first conference matches next weekend,” said Junior Matt Hamm. “We played well and are both ready for conference play.”
 
Men’s:
 
            No.1 singles- Matt Smith defeats Matt Hamm 6-4, 6-4
            No.2 singles- Alex Poe defeats Nate Kelly 6-2, 6-0
            No.3 singles- Steffen good defeats Blake Wareham 7-5, 7-5
            No.4 singles- Jeff Price defeats Justin Smith, 6-0, 6-4
            No.5 singles-David Schoch defeats Jordan Moran 6-3, 6-3
            No.6 singles- Preston Swain defeats Justin Moran 6-4, 6-3
            No.1 doubles- Poe/Smith defeats Hamm/Ju. Moran 8-4
            No.2 doubles- Price/Good defeats Brandon Roberts/Kelly 8-1
            No.3 doubles- Schoch/Swain defeats Smith/Cory Beeson 8-2
 
Women's:
           
            No.1 singles- Alena Perez-Majul defeats Morgan Bright 6-0, 6-0
            No.2 singles- Lee Matthews defeats Heather Pasek 6-0, 6-0
            No.3 singles- Meghan Teunis defeats Kalyi Shafer 6-1, 6-1
            No.4 singles-Alex Covington defeats Chelsey Gott 6-1, 6-0
            No.5 singles- Rachel Barger defeats Adrian Gillaspy 6-0, 6-0
            No.6 singles- Katie Johnson defeats Rain Tuley 6-0, 6-1
            No.1 doubles- Perez-Majul/ Maggie Ashby defeats Shafer/Bright 8-0
            No.2 doubles- Ceciley Starkey/Kelsey Hartman defeats Pasek/Gott 8-3
            No.3 doubles- Teunis/Barger defeats Gillaspy/Caitie Miller 8-1
 
The Franklin College men (2-3) will travel to the University of Indianapolis to face off with Rose-Hulman and Anderson on March 13 at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
 
The women will have two matches remaining this season. The first is this Sunday, March 7 against Kentucky Wesleyan at 10 a.m. at Franklin. The last match will be on March 25 at Transylvania University.
