Franklin College won its first HCAC Commissioner’s Cup. The Commissioner’s Cup is awarded to the school that accumulates the most points between men’s and women’s athletics during the year. The annual award is in its fourth year of existence.

Franklin College scored 95.5 points beating out Manchester, 92.5 points, and defending champion Rose-Hulman, 92 points. Transylvania University (88.5), Anderson University (84), Hanover College (72), Defiance College (68.5), College of Mount St. Joseph (64) and Bluffton University (44) all followed.

Franklin finished second in the Men’s All-Sports standings and fifth in the Women’s All-Sports standings. The men finished with 56 points, half a point behind Rose-Hulman. The men had won the cup the last three years. The women finished with 39.5 points.

“The Commissioner’s Cup championship has been our departmental goal for the past several years, and I am very proud of our student-athletes and coaches for achieving it,” said athletic director Kerry Prather. “This title reflects the collective efforts and accomplishments of all 18 sports programs and confirms our commitment to excellence in everything we do.”

The athletic department won five conference championships this year. They won men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s basketball, and most recently baseball.
