INDIANAPOLIS--Greg Zoeller took the oath of office Monday to become Indiana's attorney general.

Zoeller listed this day among the best he has ever experienced, aside from his wedding day and the births of his children.

Zoeller also said his previous work in the attorney general's office would serve him well.
"During the past seven years in the office of the attorney general, I have had a unique opportunity that no other attorney general has had before me--the experience of working with the lawyers and others in state government who serve our state every day," Zoeller said.

Zoeller spoke about how he viewed the role of the attorney general as that of a "servant-lawyer." He described his role as combining the needs of clients with public service. The role would establish a higher calling with a greater passion.

Zoeller said he knows he has a challenge ahead, but is eager to face it.

"The days ahead may well be ones filled with great challenges for many in our state and nation," Zoeller said. "But along with the difficulties we may face will be great opportunities to serve others."
