INDIANAPOLIS--Besides passing Senate Bill 16, the Senate Homeland Security, Transportation and Veteran Affairs Committee also passed SB 196. This bill would ban the use of electronic devices, such as a cell phone or computer while operating a motor vehicle. This bill would not apply to safety vehicles such as police cars or fire trucks. The bill passed 10-0.

The committee also passed SB 249 10-0. This would conform state guidelines for commercial driver’s licenses to the federal standards.
