Frizzell seeking his ninth consecutive term in District 93
Candidates are going head-to-head in District 93 to be the next representative.
Republican Dave Frizzell is the incumbent and has been in office since 1992.
He’s served as the president of the Third Millennium Foundation Inc., which aims to improve life for senior citizens. He was also the Major Gifts officer for the Riley’s Children Foundation.
He’s involved in many committees, such as: Parents, Educators and Professional Business, Inc.; Indiana Opera Theatre, Inc.; and New Hope Church.
He has been selected as an at-large delegate for the 2005 White House Conference on Aging. He has also received many awards from various organizations such as the Public National Service Award in 2005 from the American Physical Therapist Association.
Democrat Shayne Merritt is new to the political experience. He’s a small business owner of a company called Merritt Manufacturing, which produces car seats for children with special needs.
He said he feels that the most important issue faced by Hoosiers are health care, taxes and public education. He operates on the idea that if you believe in a solution you can be passionate and it helps you show your side of issues.
He said he thinks he’ll be able to successfully push policies through because of his experience as a salesman, and said that he’ll help Hoosiers get their ideas across if they e-mail or call him and the ideas make sense. If they do, he said he will present them to the House and convince them of their importance.
