Napolitan Alumni House fire under investigation

The cause of a July 29 fire at the Franklin College Napolitan Alumni House, Henry St., is under investigation according to the Franklin Fire Department.
 
Barbara Underwood, the house's caretaker, was alerted to the fire by the home's smoke detectors and exited safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but lightning is suspected.
 
Initial reports indicate most of the fire and water damage was made to the Auld Family Suite on the second floor. There was limited smoke damage throughout the house. The estimated damage is $30,000.
