Illusionist impresses Franklin audience

Jason Bishop’s was a hit on Wednesday with his mix of tricks and comedy. The theme after the show was “How did he do that?”
“I thought he was witty,” said sophomore David O’Rourke, “and he had a lot of tricks I’d never seen before.”
Bishop started off the show by making his assistant seems as if she was floating on a microphone stand. Bishop then lifted her more and more horizontally until she was parallel to the ground.
“The stand obviously helped his assistant look like she was floating but it was still impressive,” said junior Deswyn Prentice.
Bishop also had two tricks that made his assistant disappear and reappear. In the first one, he completely folded up the box she was in to a box about 12 cubed inches, then put swords through it, unfolded it, and pulled his assistant back out.
“I want to say she somehow walked away or hid somewhere else, but it’s easier to just accept the fact that she disappeared,” O’Roark said. “It’s kind of like just accepting that Santa brought my presents instead of trying to figure out where they really came from.”
During the second trick, Bishop made his assistant disappear again, but without the swords. Many in the audience said they were both very impressive and they can’t figure out how he did it.
“She was definitely some kind of contortionist,” Prentice said, “but I still can’t explain how they did it.”
For Bishop’s last act, he showed off his varies card skills.
“My favorite part was when he made it look like he was pulling the cards out of thin air,” O’Rourke said. “And it was pretty sweet when he was bouncing the cards off the ground.”
