The softball team swept Mount St. Joseph in a doubleheader at home on Wednesday, 4-1 and 3-2, respectively.
With the win, Franklin improved to 12-14 (3-5 HCAC) and seventh in the conference.
Mount fell to 6-16 (0-8 HCAC).
“It’s nice to have two conference victories,” head coach Heather Watson said. “We are pretty thrilled about that.”
In the first game, Franklin recorded eight hits and four RBIs. Junior Kayla Bachek earned the win for the Grizzlies.
Freshman Allison Mitchell led the Grizzly attack, going four for seven with an RBI for the game.
Franklin tallied seven hits and two RBIs in the second game. Adrienne Way, freshman, pitched for Franklin.
“A high point was playing under the pressure and still coming out with the win,” senior Tracey Smith said.
Freshman Stephanie Beasley led Franklin’s offense, going 2 for 3 from the plate with a double and five walks.
“We are definitely still seeing a lot of improvements and our defense was solid,” Beasley said. “Overall, it felt really good to win two conference games. Those are the games we really work for.”
