Athletic training program wins professional development award

By Staff Report, July 16, 2010

The Franklin College Athletic Training Education Program was recently awarded the 2010 Bill Cramer Professional Development Award.

The award honors the memory of an athletic training legend, Bill Cramer and includes a  $2,000 check to help students with expenses related to attending the National Athletic Training Association symposium or state, district, or national meeting to further their professional development.

"We are truly honored to receive this award, especially since this was the first time we applied for it,” said Kathy Remsburg, director of the Franklin College ATEP and associate professor of athletic training.

The award is named for the late Charles William “Bill” Cramer, former chairman of the board of Cramer Products, Inc. Cramer was named an honorary NATA member in 1993 and was well known for his commitment to sports medicine. Before his death at age 86 in 2007, he designed and patented products and resources to benefit athletes and athletic trainers.
