Family festival hosts parents, students
Family Weekend, a time spent with…families. An entire weekend devoted to not just the Franklin Family but to our families.
The family festival integrated families to Franklin by redoing the welcome bash from the beginning of the year. Saturday was filled with different kinds of events. From the video game competition to scrap booking and the Multicultural Dance it was all fun for Linda Dunn and Kate Hufford.
Kate Hufford, daughter, and Linda Dunn, mother, spent Saturday and Sunday together.
“Casino night was fun,” Dunn said.
The Multicultural Dance was the best, Hufford said. The Flavor of Franklin was also on Hufford’s favorite’s list.
“We’re not from around here," Hufford said. "So, it was nice to figure out where the different restaurants were.”
Dunn’s only problem with the weekend wasn’t the events, but the work. Homework.
“That was the worst part,” Hufford said. “My mom wanted to spend time with me, but I had to call her Friday and ask her not to come till Saturday so we could spend the weekend together.”
“Why have this big family event when students have this homework," Dunn said, "at a time when their studying for finals?”
Those were the only complaints mother and daughter had.
A fun weekend according to both.
