Date Night

One for the guys: the television and sports
By Kelly Lynch, October 3, 2008

Football has started.  For baseball, it’s almost playoffs time.  Even NASCAR is in the race for the Cup.  All the big games and races are taking place right now so what’s a more perfect date than to host a game day party, for just the two of you?

This activity might require some shopping.  The party has to set the mood, as if you’re actually there in the stands watching, so you must have the essentials.  Hotdogs and nachos are what you’ll find at any game so it also needs to be the cuisine for the night.  For drinks, beer is classic, but if you’re not over 21, sodas will work just fine.

The couple will need to be dressed in full uniform attire, or as close as possible.  Jerseys and ball caps are always acquirable, but if you want to really impress your significant other, foam fingers and air horns are a great surprise.  Also, face paint is always a nice touch.  Maybe a player’s numbers on the cheek or just the team’s colors in a cool design.  You decide.

It might seem impersonal, shouting and yelling at the television instead of going out.  But, just think.  If dinner and a movie were your plans, how is a movie any better than watching a game?  This way, you can stay home and relax but still be together, doing something at least one of you loves.  And ladies, if you hate watching sports, use the date to impress your guy or just to give you something to use against him later.
