Ellington deserves praise after election
Friday morning, the elections of the Student Congress election were released. Sophomore Chelsi Mobley beat sophomore Aaron Hommell by winning 75 percent of the vote, a whopping 357 votes.
But we almost did not get to run these results. The story would have read "Mobley beats Hommell." But thanks to Keri Ellington, the director of activities and organizations, we were able to get this information.
The students on campus took part in an open election and have the right to know how votes on this campus swung the election.
We applaud Ellington and thank her for releasing these results to students. It helps to show exactly how much of a difference in opinion there is on campus. Also, maybe by seeing the numbers, students will see how low our voting totals were (only 485 out of more than 1,000 students) and actually vote next year.
Our hats are off to you, Ms. Ellington. Thank you.
